hhmmm.. i think i mentioned about getting the 16gb p2.. hahahaha
it seems now that the whole world has it but not in singapore yet..
zzz...
dun have music to listen to abit sian.. hahaha..

anw.. i walked past challenger today and got myself this..

mine's in purple..
i just chose it..
maybe coz its nicer than the white.. and i dont like the red..
and every mp3 player i got was black..
so the only colour left in the store was purple..

it can only play music.. as you all can see it doesnt have a screen..
but it has a light at the back..
prob just a temp player.. since its only 50 bucks..
until the 16gb p2 comes out in singapore..

im back !
its been a not very long and not very short 20 days..
i don't quite know how to start this post..
because almost everything that i wanna say cant be said.. zzz..
shall try going day by day.. =)
i do not have alot of pictures with me now because i was using my phone..
and decided that i shall not take much due to the batt life.. hahaha
shall get all the pictures from wl and then do an update..
besides.. there are alot of pictures which cannot be posted here.. zzz..

day 0.. flight day...

flight at 2330..
arrived at airport at 2130..
its actually kinda hard to imagine what lies ahead of us...

day 1.. first day at camp..

we reached old bangkok international airport early in the morning..
and its really really early..
took a bus.. 3 hours plus bus ride...
i didn't take any photos of the bus there..
but its the 2 stories kind..
first level is a small area with sofas and table in a round shape..
and the second level is the normal bus layout..
their buses are all personalized..
they have neon lights all around and stickers and stuff..

anyway.. upon reaching there..
we stopped at the ultra big vehicle park..
kinda lost because firstly, it is still dark..
got led to the cookhouse.. have breakfast..
the meals there need to wash the utensils ourselves one.. zzz...
went over to our bunks later on..
our bunk can fit 100 pple..
metal bed frames.. thin mattresses.. and bedsheets which cant fit..
oh.. and not to mention the bed bugs that some have...
cupboards which holds the mark of pple coming and leaving.. (in other words.. vandalism..)
and the shelf in the cupboard is held by strings..
mine collapsed on the second night.. zzz..

went to the toilet to have a look..
its two sections.. one each with a big concrete container like thing with 3 taps..
in other words.. we were supposed to use pails to scoop the water and bathe.. lolx..
and.. toilet paper is a big no-no over there..
because.. the pipeline is really small.. so if toilet paper is used, it will choke up the toilet..
so we had to use water if we need to..
and not mentioning the water and electricity outages..
imaging bathing halfway and the water is out.. zzz..
and the worst part ?
the toilet is a block by itself away from the bunk..
so if anyone forgets to bring towel along.. too bad ! hhahaha
a few of the guys met with this unfortunate event..
hahaha.. luckily i wasnt one of them..

day 2.. orientation driving

drove the m3g around the villages outside camp..
oh.. did i mention that the camp is in some rural area ?
i don't quite know how to describe the place..
but i remember telling my pc on the 2nd last day on the way back to camp when he said that we were very near camp..
i told him "ermx.. theres an overhead bridge, we are on tar road and theres street lamps.. no.. we are really far from camp.." =)

anyway.. i don't think most of you guys have seen what vehicle ive been driving..
here's the officially released pictures..

and to have a glimpse of how big it is..
this is from the commissioning event..
can u see the two guys at the side of the vehicle ? hahahaha

anyway we were driving around the place and we saw the singapore of old days..
the SMEs were on the vehicle with us.. and so they told us lots of things..
goats and cows roaming around...
houses made up of materials like wood and metal sheets for roof..
the people there, esp children would come out of the houses when we go past..
either they are curious about the veh or worried that we will destroy their crops..
lolx..
children would run out and wave to us and stuff..

i cant really remember the schedule after that..
it was followed by a few days of component training...
first time in current waters.. the pilots often got scolded..
and the song you are listening to now became the song we often sing.. lolx.. =X
it was to poke some fun around..

after component training we went back for maintenance..
and then.. ETEP 2.. ex claymore..

our standard stuff for full scale exercise would include :
1. deployment.. digging of shell scrapes.. camoflouging of veh..
2. rafting ops
3. bridging ops..

deployment was a breeze.. everything was up very early and we managed to get alot of slp..
we did not encounter this but previous batch said that there would be a boy going around offering help..
50 baht for a shell scrape.. lolx..
but nevertheless there were people going around selling drinks to us.. =)
can u imagine have cold coke to drink while digging shell scrape ? lolx..
and the ground there is so soft.. chicken feet.. hahaha

rafting ops is just a better way of saying getting baked in the sun..

we built a company bridge in record time..
we never did it before.. and the other company that came in the previous batch wasnt even close..
we shaved at least 40 mins off their timing.. =)

overall... to put it simply.. we were awarded REDCON 1...

after all the maintenance were completed..
we just nua the days away..
overnight mahjong.. late night blackjacks...
and the canteen became our hangout for the day..
the canteen is really big..
one drink stall.. one icecream stall.. one laundry.. 4 food stalls..
and 2 lan gaming shop.. small ones..
1 titbits shop.. and 4 shops selling souveniors and shirt and all sorts of stuff..

2nd last day... R & R...

in the morning we went to the elephant zoo or smth.. i cant remember the name..
we had buffet lunch there.. not really nice..
btw.. we left camp at 830.. its not that we were late.. the trip is v long..
and then off to see the elephants, crocodiles, snakes, rabbits and monkeys..

after that we went to a temple and then off to dinner at whale hotel..
its a hotel.. but not the high class one..
its a hotel.. and theres a restaurant..
thats it.. and theres a big "fish tank" behind the hotel..
you get the picture..
not a filling dinner.. it was placed on the table waiting for us to go eat..
and it was cold by the time we reached there..

and then we went to the shopping centre..
its like our takashimaya..
nth much to buy.. and its as expensive as singapore..
theres a back alley which we didnt venture in..
it was very dark and very sleazy..

a look at the shopping centre..
my phone couldn't take a picture of the whole place.. so its divided into three.. lolx..

left

centre

right

and here are the pictures of the top story of the shopping centre..

and then.. the next day we left early in the morning to catch the flight back..
time seems to pass so fast..
there was a pitstop in the middle for lunch..
its a giant supermarket kind of thing..
the service there is really slow.. but it is very good..

nxt stop.. singapore.. =)
